Day 2: France show they mean business as Denmark top Pool B

Defending champions France produced a dominant display on day two, outclassing the Czech Republic to take a 24-67 victory in their second game of the tournament, securing themselves a place in Saturday’s semi-finals. Making it two wins from two, the French side were impressive from the off, making a strong statement of intent for the tournament to finish the second day of competition at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff as Pool A leaders.

Germany also booked themselves a place in the semi-finals, defeating a combative Netherlands side 48-54 in the day’s final match. They’ll meet France in tomorrow’s final Pool A match, both nations looking to inflict a first defeat on their rival to progress to the semi-final as pool winners.

Over in Pool B, Denmark scored over 60 tries for the second game in a row, defeating European Championship debutants Israel 43-68 in the day’s opening game. The seven-time champions defeated Switzerland 31-47 to maintain their 100% record in the tournament.
