
There were wins for defending champions France and hosts Great Britain in the final round of pool matches on day three of the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby European Championship at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
France swept aside Germany 63-39 to top finish top of pool A with three wins from three, their dominance of the group showing why they are one of the favourites to lift the trophy on Sunday. To make the final, they’ll need to get past Denmark in Saturday’s second semi-final after the 2019 silver medalists were defeated by Great Britain 52-45 in the final match of the day. Great Britain will take on Germany in the first semi-final of the day, which will be broadcast live on Channel 4 television.
Earlier in proceedings, both the Netherlands and Switzerland notched up their first wins of the championship, the Dutch winning convincingly 34-66 against the Czech Republic and Switzerland getting the better of Israel in a thrilling encounter that finished 50-46.
