27th January 2023
As part of the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby European Championship, it has been confirmed that two regional Welsh teams will go head-to-head to battle it out in spectacular Judgement Day games at the Principality. The wheelchair rugby teams will face off against each other on the final morning of the tournament – Sunday 7th May – meaning that ticketholders for this date will enjoy a day of back-to-back clashes and smashes!
As soon as the first match of the day ends, the Judgement Day teams will roll to pitch and tip off, playing a running clock match against each other. The match is set to showcase regional wheelchair rugby in the incredible setting of the Principality Stadium.
Event Director Chris Walker commented: “We’re really excited to be shining a spotlight on regional wheelchair rugby on such an iconic stage. It’s fantastic that we’re able to give grassroots players this platform in the context of the European Championship.
“Judgement Day is something that Welsh rugby fans will be familiar with as part of the Principality Stadium’s regular roster of events, so we really hope it will inspire more people to come down to the event and watch.
“Hosting this Day as the first of its kind supports our legacy aims of getting more people playing, watching and volunteering with wheelchair rugby throughout Wales. We really hope that the wheelchair rugby Judgement Day will become a permanent fixture in the Welsh sporting calendar beyond 2023!”
